What Do I Want In Life?

Today’s Christmas service, Love Storey was awesome. That is without doubt, but there is something that really struck me during the production, next to the peripheral distraction, it was, What do I want in Life? There are achievers and under-achievers, people who lead, and people who follow, people who live life to the Fullest, and people who live a life of sadness.

What is really life to the fullest?

A life with God. That is the standard Christian answer.

but if we look at it simply, it doesn’t really meet the physical needs of a human.

Let’s look at some needs of a human that is known, and also found in the Bible

1) Humans need food. God created the Garden of Eden, and said to Adam, all the animals and fruits are for him.

2) Companionship. God saw that Adam was lonely, so he created Eve, as a companion

3) Love. John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he sent his one and only son Jesus to die for us, so that those who receive him will live life to the Full.

Alright. Out of these 3 main needs, love is already freely given by God. However, Companionship. This is something that has been a distraction and also a concern in my life now.

I want to do life with people.

I want to make a difference in wherever I am.

I want to be able to enjoy fruitful fellowship with my brothers and sisters.

Today, as i took the Night Rider home for the first time, i was sitting directly infront of a beautiful couple. Who were enjoying each other’s company, it was a moment which i asked. What does my heart desire, and what does my mind desire. What is more important at the moment. Will I be able to prioritise? Can’t there be a compromise?

Favour, Illustration, Relationship, Eternal-driven.

these are something told to me a year ago, and I still remember them. Favour, where what we do is to gain the Favour of God. Where we live a life of repentance. Illustration, where we live as life examples of how we should live our lives. How should things be done. Relationship, build fruitful relationships. Eternal-driven, do what has eternal value.

this is all the photos of all the pages that Elton, Bernard, Kenneth and Sean made. It was a beautiful book that I really appreciated because of all the effort that has been put into.

Last Sunday, it was my farewell, but i could not go for it because of taekwondo, however, God really blessed me with a friend that was willing to help me through that day, and I thank God for him. Wei Jie, even though you won’t come to my blog, thank you!

It was a simple picnic, where i was touched by the affirmations, song dedication and also a windchime worth of cards, although everyone had written cards to me before, and nothing else to say le, but they still made the effort to do so. Thank you

Now I’m in my new group already, met my new  unit guys, and also my compact lifegroup, and just got to know who is my shepherd. So, the environment is totally different, the people are all new, and whatever it is, God, I won’t give up on you. I will go through a lot, but everything happens for your perfect plan. Guide me to be the Man you have created me to be.

Holding Your Hands

Alright~ this post title sounds like some kind of love dedication to someone~

Yes it is, but not to a girl, but to God, who i must say is the only faithful God that there is. As many may know, I have been having clinical attachments for this whole week, and life felt so mundane that i can say that i never really filled myself with God throughout this week. And even during service today, it felt totally off, where I just felt overwhelmed with the feeling of Sian-ness. However, during the shepherd’s meet, the worship was ending when God spoke, to me, that He has always been walking with me. He has been holding my hand throughout all this while.

I may not have felt his presence, but he was always beside me, or in my heart. When Jesus died on the cross, each and everyone who recieves him has the Holy Spirit in their heart. And that’s when i counted my blessings, and really felt God’s presence in my life. So I just want to say, God I Love You.

¹⁵Nothing outside a man can make him ‘unclean’ by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him ‘unclean.’

These 2 verses are what I’m gonna talk about today. What do we speak? What do we not speak? It’s a pretty ignored thought because we simply don’t see how the Word Of God comes into the picture. So here’s how it comes.

Unwholesome talk Vs Building others up.

So how are these different? Worlds apart. Unwholesome when searched for definition in Google is, unfavorable to health. So, unwholesome talk is unhealthy talk! But what exactly is unwholesome talk?

When it affects a person’s spiritual health to go downwards. E.g, gossiping, letting emotions take control of the conversation.

We have to be Word centred, not Emotion centred. Even in our speech, we let the Word of God speak through us. As I was sharing, we lead ourselves with our mind, not with our heart. When we communicate to individuals ruled over by emotions, first of all, there will not be self-control. Feelings between the 2 may go in an awkward direction. So how?

Many of us may know about SOW, Surface, Open, Word.

But there is another level, SOWR(Sower) R for relationship.

Many people goes from, S, O then R. skipping the Word relationship. Where the presence of God in the relationship is minimal. How can we then say that we are God’s Children, where we do not bring God into our relationship with people.

And, in Mark 7:15, it says, what makes us unclean is  what comes out of us, it does not speak of the brown chocolate that all animals produced in their in-built factories, but it speaks of words that come out of our mouth. Does it build others up? Or does it tear people down. What we speak shows our heart condition.

Thank you God, for Elton, for speaking to me through him. I have sinned. let  the words of my mouth be that of your word. Not of my emotions, not of my worldly desires, but desires for you. In Jesus name, Amen.

What I speak of in this post is not to tell others, talk only about what’s in the Bible. No! thats being legalistic. What I’m trying to say is that we do not lead ourselves with our worldly desires. There was this time when I started to speak about money because money was a worldly desire. However, it would have only torn people apart instead of building them up. So how about a guy talking to a girl, and a girl talking to a guy?

First of all, No Problem. Alright, do not condemn your sheep just because of what they speak. If it shows a wrong intention, then of cause stop it. However, if it is word centred, then Go Ahead~

Let the words of our mouth be wholesome, it may start with small talk, open sharing.

An example I’d like to share. Vivien Lim~ haha, dun kill me for tearing you down here~ She really shows how Word Centred she really is through how she talks, in a private conversation, she asked me if there was anything she could pray for me. It really brought the element of God into the picture, from just talking nonsense(which I normally do) to something God will be pleased with.

Dear God,

Let us be people who are dedicared to you, with our hearts filled with your word. Let us draw ever so nearer to you, that we will be sensitive enough to know where you desire our relationships with people will go. That we will watch what we speak, and hold close to the ever so sweet word. Let us live a Word-Based Life

What do I do?

What do I do with my life?

Was sharing about why I am willing to be a Christian to a classmate. And well, it was not exactly the easiest way of reaching out, where he had many doubts. And he just doesn’t care about such a thing.

When i asked, what will convince him, he said, “When I feel God” haha, I really believe that the development of Science have caused Faith to be belittled. Where, people believe that Science is the answer to everything! What do we do to disprove science? What do we do to prove that Faith is a value greater than any fact in this world? Our Spiritual Eyes and Ears do not want to open up to God, and we rely on our physical senses instead, where we only believe in what we can see, touch, feel, hear and taste.

Let us not be a lost generation, but a generation that seeks You!

Having mixed feelings about what is about to happen, how different will things be? How about what I am about to leave behind? Will they sustain? Have I done what you have commanded me to? How will it be? Concerns, but I know that God, You have been doing your work, I really pray that it will last. Don’t let your nation fall, but let it rise stronger, to once again shine from Glory to Greater Glory.

Do not give up on even the darkest soul. For they are still treasures in God’s Eyes.
I really look forward to what lies ahead, but fear of the unknown is frightening.. However, God, if this is the road you have chosen for me, Go with me and let me be ever more sensitive to what your heart desires.

Achieving

Hmm, alright, just got back my results today, and well i believe that it is pretty awesome, viewing how much effort i put in =D

but hey, to the high achievers out there, this is some stuff that i gotta say. My first reaction to my results was, I have to study harder.. When i got pretty good results, i thought of studying harder. How much do I really want to achieve? Is there a limit to what I am willing to give for my studies? Even my walk with God?

The next tought was, how did other people fare? So i wanted to compare. I wanted to know that I am better. (it is pretty crazy, but that was really what i was thinking at that point of time!) Started to sms people, asking how was their results, and each time they replied, not so good, there was this gratification inside, that says, see? I am better. This is typically how competitive people think! As long as I am at the top! and when someone is better than you, the next thought is, I want to become better! I want to do more! Idealistic thoughts like this, as being the top is not what God wants you to reach for! But instead, it is whether God has such plans for you! God does not seek to have all his children reach to the very top of the world, but instead to love him back.

Instead of recieving your results and feeling unhappy about not being better, or proud that you are better than your friends, it is about giving thanks! To the one who gave it to us a brain in the first place! God!

The time of recieving results is not a time to mourn or be proud, but it is a time to give thanks to the Lord, for all that he has done throughout the journey of studying, balancing time and all that went pass. All the more we should do so, to keep our hearts Humble!

Let me tell anyone who reads this. I am the least hardworking in my class, but I am one of the highest scorers. Because of God’s Grace

How do we go on at this rate?

Alright, this is a very sudden post, as I really feel a need that people will start to see what they are really doing.

I see in Facebook and Twitter, so many people scolding others, and complaining about how terrible everything has been, and doesn’t put God into the picture of their problems.

Hey guys and girls, wake up. How can we go on at this rate? Being so emotionally driven is not going to solve the problem! posting your troubles into twitter, scolding others in facebook, giving up.

Why are all of us so undetermined? Are we all such weak minded cowards? In face of difficulty we give up. In face of challenge, we say very tired, forget about it. How then will we win this generation, if we are being the same as this generation as well?

Once again, WAKE UP

It is very disappointing to see people respond to saturday’s sermon, about having our rights, and just looking at twitter and facebook, i see that our response and actions are otherwise.

By responding, we tell God, that we want to give up our pride for fighting for our own rights, and face insults, unreasonable demands, and also when we have a chance to get back at people.

Scolding someone in anywhere is going against what we promised God. Do not promise God something that we will not keep in mind. Responding is more than just raising our hands and allowing the Speaker to pray for us, it is not about the words of the speaker, but our determination to go through with the WORD OF GOD!

This generation will die at this pace alright, because we are all No Action Talk Only! NATO! Who will follow someone who just talks? Another thing is how much we really go through our day with God. And how much we really keep to this thought of, What Would Jesus Do. How can we say that we follow Jesus, by just saying, I want to be more like Jesus, but not care about what he will do if he is in our position? We are leading ourselves with our heart! Which is not going to work people. WAKE UP! If all we want to do is to be like mindless followers, God won’t be able to work through us! Because we are so caught up with ourselves! Caught up with our pride, that we have blinded ourselves from what God wishes for us to do!

So are we going to continue on this path of self-destruction?

Let me say this. Stop using Twitter and Facebook or any other social networks as a bin for your troubles. To put it crudely, it is Satan’s way of treating them as God. Why do I say that?

They have become idols in our lives, and God said? Do not worship idols.

How are they idols in our lives? We complain to them. we cast all our insecurities, our unhappiness into these networks, instead of working it out with God, we take the easy way out of complaining to these networks which share to others how defeated we are living our lives. We complain to them first, then complain to God. Or not to God at all. Seriously. Have we put God as the very first thought in our mind? Therefore, we have idolized such social networks before God and we have to all see that THIS IS A SIN IN GOD’S EYES

 ⁴ ” ‘Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God do not turn to IDOLS,  For God, is GOD!

Let me tell you all, Sharing such things in twitter is not going to do you any good, but to spread our insecurities and pride.

Let me challenge whoever who reads this, stop putting such lousy comments or messages into the website. But instead, share how you have put God into the picture of what you just did.

I can go on forever ranting about what I feel about what is going on, but let me end off in prayer.

Dear God,

Your children needs you. We need you in our lives even more. Let us put you in the picture throughout our lives, and not cast our insecurities and pride into the internet, but to you oh God, break our insecurities and pride, and let your word speak in our lives. God, save this dying generation, starting from ourselves. Guide us, help us to become more like Jesus

I Have Rights, So What?

Wow, this is the title of a sermon we just had yesterday, and God brought this testing so quickly. Was discussing with Xue Yong over some stuff, when after we finished, he sent out information that has to change everything.

I had my rights to complain and tell him everything I disliked about what he just did, but so what? Really, it was something difficult to do, really wanted to complain and all, but I wrote this letter to God, and, a song was playing, which sang, “break down my pride~”

If it is for me, I don’t have to fight for it.

Being a Real Man

Many hear of this, Male by birth, Man by choice.
So what makes a real Man?

Real men are tender to others, but tough on themself.

Tender, as in not soft, but a friend, one who listens, one who does not force his way through people, but win them over.

Tough, not as in Fit and Buffed, but more of a person who knows his limits. He sets his own limits, and knows when to stop. Takes control of what he is doing, and not go with the flow of the world.

Another thing, a leader leads himself with his mind, while he leads others with his heart. First of all, why lead others with your heart? The Holy Spirit resides in our heart, and well, we are told to love others, not lead others. We are to guide, not to control. So, the heart is the best tool to guide others to God, and also God’s people.
Leading oneself by the mind is because, the heart is easily tainted. When others do not keep a watch on our hearts, sin can easily overtake your life. Leading by the mind, is through GOD’S WORD, knowing what God truely wants. We cannot let our feelings guide us when we lead ourselves. This will lead to a life of self comfort. where you always want to let yourself be comfortable, and well. We will be stuck in our comfort zones! being stuck in our comfort zones=being stuck in our life! SO let’s, break out of our comfort zones, and do great things!
